Volga Region State Academy of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism has been foundered by the Ministry of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy of the Russian Federation in July, 2010 in the framework of the XXVII World Summer Universiade Legacy. The branch, located in Naberezhnye Chelny, will proceed functioning.
Volga Region State Academy of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism is a unique educational body, dedicated to educate coaches, trainers, wellness and fitness specialists, sport and tourism event managers and future leaders of sports and tourism industries. We strive to inculcate in our students the motivation, entrepreneurship, innovation, invention, outreach, and pragmatic love of knowledge to become true professionals of their business and master their profession.
Volga Region State Academy of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism combines unique facilities for study, accommodation and practice. Modern auditoriums and up-to-date labs are located in the main building of the Academy. Seven of the Universiade-2013 venues and an accommodation cluster at the Universiade Village counted for 3700 students are to meet the needs of the students and lecturers of this unique educational institution.
A number of top rank athletes have studied and graduated from the Volga Region State Academy of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism. Among them Gulnara Galkina-Samitova, Olympic champion in steeplechase, Alexander Bukharov, FC “Zenit” forward, three-time Russian champion, Firaya Sultanova-Zhdanova, who took part in Olympic race in marathon, Alexey Zatsepin, European champion, participant of the Olympic Games in Athens, World Winter Universiade-2010 champions in ice hockey Denis Golubev, Andrey Bocharov and Andrey Sergeev and many others.
The near future will open up new horizons for the Volga Region State Academy of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism. It will turn to an international sport center, providing the floor for the FISU Educational Center, the major international institution able to educate foreign specialists, and the Russian National Teams Training Center, established with the view to bring together and educate top Russian sportsmen. The Academy will comprise Institute of qualification upgrading and retraining, High school for coaches, Scientific and Research Institute for Sport Training Technologies.
