The results of passing professional and public accreditation programmes were discussed during the meeting of heads of educational programmes of Volga Region University of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism with Rustem Haibrakhmanov, expert of the Public Chamber of Tatarstan.
Heads of educational programmes represented by the university's graduating departments have been working on the experts' recommendations based on the results of the accreditation review during the year. For example, for all university programmes it is essential to conduct an independent assessment of graduates' qualifications, involve students in professional competitions, organize internships for teachers of the relevant departments, expand the internship base and promote employment of the university graduates.
According to the Head of the Quality Management Department of the university Venera Sultanova, the meeting was very useful: the programme managers heard the experience of their colleagues, received additional recommendations, because the work on improvement of educational programmes is a continuous process, in which, besides the university itself, employers play an important role as they evaluate the quality of university graduates.
It is worth noting that professional and public accreditation of educational programmes is one of the areas of independent evaluation of education quality in Russia. Its legal basis is established in the Federal Law No. 273-FZ of December 29, 2012 'On Education in the Russian Federation
The procedure of professional public accreditation is performed by employers or their associations that have the status of an accrediting organization.
Information on professional-public accreditation of educational programmes is taken into account in the allocation of admission quotas; it also allows to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the accredited programme; it enables to assess its compliance with the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standards of Higher Education, labour market and professional community.
