Farid Mukhametshin called the training of a replacement of professional athletes a priority task of the Volleyball Federation

Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, President of the Volleyball Federation of the Republic of Tatarstan Farid Mukhametshin held a session of the Presidium of the Federation. Rector of the Volga Region University of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism Rafis Burganov took part in the session.

The session saw the summing up of the Zenit-Kazan and Dinamo Ak Bars professional teams' performances in the current academic season as well as the results of the republic's participation in the All-Russian Youth Volleyball League of Russia project.

Opening the Presidium's meeting, Farid Mukhametshin expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Sport, managers and coaches of volleyball clubs, as well as industrial enterprises for their comprehensive support in the development of volleyball movement in Tatarstan. It is thanks to you that volleyball of the republic remains at a high level in spite of the difficulties," said the President of the Volleyball Federation. - All conditions have been created, there are no problems with financing, Gazprom Transgaz Kazan, TransTechService and other companies render support and we believe that teams will be successful despite the intensified competition in the country's top volleyball league.

Executive Director of the Volleyball Federation of Tajikistan Mansur Karimov provided information on the implementation of the Federation's plans for 2022. A number of sporting events were included in the Federation's busy calendar of events. The schedule also includes snowball tournaments, student and school volleyball leagues, republican championships among sports schools, the Municipal Officers Spartakiade, Tatar Challenge all-Russian tournament, the 'Labour Reserves' corporate tournament, a tournament among rural districts' teams, etc.

Among problematic issues of volleyball development Mansur Karimov mentioned construction of a new sports complex and renovation of Sports School No. 11 in Naberezhnye Chelny, insufficient funding for training camps of national teams and relatively low salary rates for referees as compared to other Volga regions.

Commenting the information, Minister of Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan Vladimir Leonov mentioned the great merits of the Volleyball Federation in development of mass sports in Tatarstan. "Thanks to such projects as the SHVL, tournaments among enterprises and rural districts, volleyball in the republic was elevated to a new level," he said. - It's the most popular sport in Tatarstan. At the Olympic Reserve School, 40 students play volleyball. And we will develop the system of training athletes in sports schools. There are 34 volleyball sections at 170 sports schools, and the goal is to increase their number.

Alexey Verbov and Rishat Gilyazutdinov, head coaches of the Zenit-Kazan and Dynamo-Ak Bars professional teams, spoke about their performance at the All-Russian competitions in the 2022/2023 season.

Oleg Bryzgalov, Vice President of the Volleyball Federation of the Republic of Tatarstan, Director of Zenit-Kazan volleyball club talked about results of the third season of the School Volleyball League in Tatarstan and finals of the All-Russian Youth Volleyball League. According to him, the fifth season of the School Volleyball League now covers 740 schools across the republic with over 23,000 students taking part in the games and 5,000 teams created. The first All-Russian tournament held this year with participation of 10 regions drew 7 thousand teams with 62 thousand participants from 2128 schools.

The Presidium members also exchanged opinions on the Concept of Development of Volleyball in the Republic of Tatarstan for 2023-2027 which is being prepared.

Summing up the Presidium meeting, Farid Mukhametshin stressed the need for the most serious attention to create an effective system for training professional athletes at the expense of their younger generation. "It doesn't take much intelligence and talent to invite famous athletes from other countries and show a good game," stressed the President of Tatarstan Volleyball Federation. - We need to learn how to nurture and train our own outstanding players and coaches. We need to focus on the younger generation, improve selection work. That is the main task of our federation, our head coaches and managers of clubs at the present stage. And the republic has all the conditions and reserves to do just that.
