At the world rowing and Canoeing Championships in Szeged, Hungary, Kirill Shamshurin, a master's student at the Volga Academy of sports, won an Olympic license for Russia at the 2020 Tokyo Games.
The Russian team has 2 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medals in this tournament, as well as 12 sport licenses in 5 Olympic sports programs.
